Warrnambool is a city along the Great Ocean Road, in Victoria, Australia. Its main beach, the sandy Bathing Beach, runs in front of vast Lake Pertobe Adventure Park. The nearby Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village explores the area's seafaring history through a large shipwreck collection. Thunder Point Coastal Reserve, with its rocky ocean scenery, encompasses Shelly Beach. East is Logans Beach Whale Watching Platform.

Warrnambool is the largest city in the Great Ocean Road region, located 263km south-west of Melbourne, approximately a 3-hour drive via Geelong on the Princes Highway or Hamilton Highway. 

​Warrnambool has a moderate climate with an average maximum summer temperature of 22 degrees, while the average winter maximum is 14 degrees. Aqua Zone

All our guests have free unlimited use of the facility during their stay including the pools, gym, classes, lockers and towels. Please enquire at reception.

Aqua Zone is the major indoor community aquatic and leisure facility in South West Victoria. It provides equitable and affordable access to a wide range of aquatic and fitness activities. It is currently Warrnambool’s only aquatic leisure and recreation centre which provides indoor and outdoor heated pools for fitness and play, a large gymnasium, spin bike studio and fitness programs.

Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village

Flagstaff Hill's Maritime Village is set on 10 acres and reflects the pioneering atmosphere of an 1870s coastal port. Experience first hand the perils of early sea travel as you explore The Gravesend Theatre, audiovisual presentations, interactive displays, and the relics & treasure recovered from various shipwrecks in the Great Circle Gallery. ​By night, experience the world class sound and laser show which tells the tale of a 19th century sailing ship's demise and the miraculous survival of just two passengers. Click here for more information.

Events and Festivals

Warrnambool hosts many events and festivals throughout the year, ranging from the exciting annual sprint car race, the "Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic",  fun, music and food party, the "Wunta Fiesta" to ever so popular horse racing, "May Race Carnival". Fishing

Warrnambool has a broad range of recreational fishing opportunities ranging from freshwater fishing in our lakes and rivers to estuarine and saltwater fishing in our bays, inlets and ocean. Boat launching is available at the Breakwater for ocean fishing, or the Hopkins or Merri Rivers. ​Visit The Visitor Information Centre for a comprehensive listing of fishing spots and species.

Tower Hill

Tower Hill, located 20 minutes from Warrnambool, is a major natural landmark on the Princes Highway between Warrnambool and Port Fairy in south-western Victoria, and many people visit it to enjoy a picnic or walk, to see its wildlife or to study its geology. As a giant maar or volcanic explosion crater it is of international and national geological significance. ​The revegetation of Tower Hill has provided new habitats for many animals. You may see koalas, emus, kangaroos, magpie geese, echidnas, and possums, as well as waterbirds. Click here for more information.
